We’ve overhauled the editing experience on web. These “little big” changes add up to save you serious time on every edit and make creating social content smoother than ever.
Multi-Select Editing
Editing clips one at a time is a drag. With multi-select, you can grab a group of clips and make changes all at once—copy, paste, trim, or move them in seconds. Bulk edits that used to eat minutes now take a couple of clicks.

Timeline Shortcuts
Early cuts don’t need to be slow. Now you can:
Press S to instantly split every clip under the playhead
Use a new toolbar that shows the right actions when you need them
Snap clips perfectly into place with visual guides
No more hunting through menus—just faster rough cuts and smoother alignment.

Gap Control
Moving clips around used to throw your whole timeline out of sync—frustrating, right? Now you can insert new media, remove empty spaces with one click, and trim without messing up your spacing. Your edit stays smooth, so you can keep creating without losing flow.

Smarter Captions
Fixing captions after every cut was a pain. Now they automatically stay in sync as you rearrange clips, so you spend less time adjusting and more time finishing your edit.

Zoomable Captions
Sometimes you need big-picture styling, sometimes you need precision timing. With zoomable captions, you can zoom out to edit them all at once or zoom in to fine-tune individual phrases.

Crop in Canvas
Cropping used to feel like editing blind. Now you can crop media directly on the canvas while seeing captions, overlays, and every other layer—so you know exactly how everything fits together.

Custom Audio Uploads
Bringing in your own soundtracks just got easier. Upload audio straight from your computer, drop it into the timeline, and apply noise removal in one step. Clean audio, no extra tools required.

LinkedIn Safe Zones
Ever had text cut off after you post? Built-in safe zones now guide your design for LinkedIn (plus updated overlays for IG and TikTok). That means you can publish with confidence, knowing your content looks right before it goes live.

Instagram 3:4 Support
Instagram’s new 3:4 aspect ratio is here — and Slate supports it. Switch between 3:4, 9:16, 1:1, or a custom size without rework, so your edits are always ready for the feed.
