Slate Digital Inc. (“Slate”) will respect the privacy of our customers and users. This “Privacy Policy” describes how we collect and use personal data about you through www.slateteams.com and associated mobile applications under our control that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively the “Platform“), and your rights in relation to this data. We have adopted this Privacy Policy to explain what information we may collect through the Platform, how we use this information, and under what circumstances we disclose the information to third parties. This Privacy Policy, together with the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, set forth the general rules and policies governing your use of the Platform.

1. Personal Data We Collect

“Personal data” means information (or a combination of information) that can reasonably allow you to be identified or is reasonably linkable to you as a specific individual.

We collect the following categories of personal data directly from you: 

  • name;

  • email address;

  • company name;

  • title; 

  • account credentials; and

  • communications from you.

We also collect and use your personal data, including your contact details, account information and related business information, when you:

  • request a demo;

  • subscribe to a newsletter; 

  • contact us via the Platform (or otherwise); or 

  • register for a new account or log into an existing account.

Information that We Collect Automatically

We may also automatically collect information, some of which may qualify as personal information, about your use of the Platform.

Cookies are small files that a site or its service providers use to capture and remember certain information. If you choose not to accept certain cookies, you may not have access to certain features of the Platform.  Your browser may be configured to reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is set.

We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google, in order to better understand your use of the Platform and how we can improve it.  Google Analytics collects information such as how often users visit a website, what pages you visit when you do so, and what other websites you used prior to coming to such website.  Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit a website, rather than your name or other directly identifying information.  We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with your personal data.  Although Google Analytics plants a persistent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit a website, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google.  Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to the Platform is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.  Google utilizes the data collected to track and examine the use of the Platform, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services.  To more fully understand how Google may use the data it collects on the Platform, please review “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services” (located here). 

Some areas of the Platform may contain electronic images known as web beacons (sometimes known as clear gifs) that allow us and our third-party providers to count users who have visited certain portions of the website.

2. How We Use Your Personal Data And The Legal Basis For This 

We may use your personal data for the purposes set out in the table below. We have also set out our “legal basis” for each of these uses.

Use: Identification and authentication

Purpose: We use your contact and account information to verify your identity when you access and interact with the Platform

Legal basis for use: Performance of a contract and our legitimate interests

Use: Operating and Marketing the Platform

Purpose: We use all of the categories of personal data that we collect to operate and market the Platform, and to provide you with information about the Platform, such as to make demos available upon request

Purpose: We use personal information that you directly provide and related data that we collect automatically to perform analytics about how users interact with the Platform and to improve and update the Platform

Purpose: We use the contact information that you provide when we communicate with you. This may include sending marketing to you such as our newsletter

Purpose: We use all of the categories of personal data that we collect to comply with legal or regulatory requirements, for example, cooperating with law enforcement and enforcing and defending our legal rights

3. How And When We May Share Your Personal Data

We may share all of the categories of your personal data that we collect to the following categories of recipients:

  • with service providers and business partners that provide business services for us for the purposes set out above, such as marketing platforms and hosting providers. We may also provide details about your engagement with the Platform to the customer on whose behalf you are using the Platform;

  • where required by law with law enforcement agencies, regulators, courts, other government authorities or other third parties where we believe necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation, or otherwise to protect our rights or the rights of any third party; or

  • in the context of a transaction with potential transaction partners, service providers, advisors, and other third parties in connection with the consideration, negotiation, or completion of a corporate transaction in which we are acquired by or merged with another company or we sell or transfer all or a portion of our assets or business.

4. International Data Transfer

We are based in the U.S., where we host and provide the Platform and our services from. Where we provide services to organizations based outside of the U.S., we and our partners take commercially reasonable efforts to put in place appropriate safeguards (such as contractual commitments) or identifying an applicable derogation, each in accordance with applicable legal requirements to provide adequate protections for any transferred personal data. 

5. Your Rights Over Your Personal Data

You can unsubscribe or opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us by clicking the appropriate link at the bottom of any email from us. You can also unsubscribe or opt-out by emailing us at any time at hello@slateteams.com.

Data Subjects in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) or United Kingdom (“UK”)

You have certain legal rights regarding the personal data we hold about you. For example, if you are based in the UK or the EEA, you can exercise the:/


  • Right of access: to see what personal data we hold about you;

  • Right to erasure: to erase your personal data;

  • Right to data portability: to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine readable format, or for us to port your personal data to another data controller; and

  • Right to restrict processing: to restrict our use of your personal data.

We encourage you to contact us at hello@slateteams.com to update or correct your information if it changes or if the personal data we hold about you is inaccurate. Where you have provided your consent to any use of your personal data, you can use this email address to withdraw this consent at any time. We do not engage in automatic decision making. 

Slate Digital Inc. is the “controller” responsible for the personal data we collect and process.

Additional Data Protection Rights

Depending on the jurisdiction in which you reside, you may have the following data protection rights: To access; correct; delete; restrict or object to our processing of your personal data. We respond to all requests we receive from individuals wishing to exercise their data protection rights in accordance with applicable data protection laws. We may ask you to verify your identity in order to help us respond efficiently to your request. In certain circumstances, you may also make a request through an authorized agent.

6. Linked Websites

For your convenience, some hyperlinks may be posted on the Platform that link to other websites not under our control. We are not responsible for, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to, the privacy practices of those sites or of any companies that we do not own or control. We cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of any such websites or pages not under our control and we do not endorse any of these websites or pages, the services or products described or offered on such sites or pages, or any of the content contained on those sites or pages. We encourage you to seek out and read the privacy policy of each website that you visit. In addition, should you happen to initiate a transaction on a website that our Platform links to, the information that you submit to complete that transaction becomes subject to the privacy practices of the operator of that linked website.

7. Social Media Platforms

Any submission that you make on social media platforms or other areas of that Platform that allow you to post publicly is done at your own risk and without any expectation of privacy.  We cannot control the actions of other users of a social media platform and we are therefore not responsible for any of your submissions contained on a social media platform or website. By interacting with any social media platform through the Platform, you represent that you have reviewed the applicable privacy policy and terms of use of such website or social media platform and that you will abide by all such provisions contained therein. The information you post can be collected and used by other people. We cannot guarantee the privacy and safety of these areas and are therefore not responsible for any information you choose to post. Your use of these features is fully at your own risk.

8. Information Security And Storage

We implement commercially reasonable security measures designed to safeguard and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of your personal data. We evaluate and update these measures on a regular basis. However, no information system can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your personal data.

We keep your personal data for as long as we have a legitimate business purpose for retaining the information. When deciding how long to keep your personal data after our relationship with you has ended, we may retain some personal data for limited purposes such as our legal compliance or to enforce or defend our legal rights.

9. Job Applicants

Any personal information you provide us when applying for a career position with Slate will be used solely to consider and act upon your application. We may retain your personal information for a period of time, but only for as long as necessary for such purposes. We may disclose your personal information to our agents for the purpose of evaluating your qualifications for the particular position you applied for, or other available positions. We may also disclose your personal information to third parties hired by us to collect, maintain, and analyze candidates for career positions.

10. Children

The Platform is intended for a general audience and is not intended for use or view by children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect information about children or sell products to children. Consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we will not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.

12. Changes To This Policy

We may modify or update this privacy policy from time to time on notice to you by posting the amended terms on the Platform.
