Four Things We're Seeing to Help Speed to Feed

1. Over-Prepare for Event Coverage

Like the athletes we cover, we believe gamedays are the reward for our hard work. The long days and biggest stages are why we do this, but they're only successful if we put in the effort in advance. We go to great lengths to ensure every team member is clear on our event goals and how we're going to execute against them. What do we expect to be the big moments? What could be? How do we cover either scenario? Who will be staffed where, when and why? We make sure the full team has the full picture so we enter fight week with everyone in position to show off their skillset, work freely and be at their best in the biggest moments.

2. Simplify the Core Responsibilities

Every brand has their must-haves, and ours' is consistently featuring CTAs with how-to-watch messaging. Slate solved what was a real headache for us, by allowing every member of our team - whether they're on-the-ground, on-the-desk, adept video editors or social programmers - the ability to quickly add accurate and consistent CTA overlays to every post. We've supplemented that with additional design elements the team can use for more creative posts and as time allows, but we've made that baseline branding as simple and turnkey as possible.

3. Be Willing to Abandon the Blueprint

We plan for every scenario and have a standard run of show, but we all know the magic of live sports comes from the moments when athletes surprise us. That's when instinct, creativity, communication, and prep all come into play. Our team is in constant contact throughout live events, so we are all in lock step on real-time priorities, but we want everyone to feel confident in abandoning the plan to capitalize on virality when the moment dictates

4. Hope for Strong Wi-Fi (but have the tools and backup if not!)

The bane of every live sporting event, as we compete with every person in the building racing to post to their own Stories. Our on-site team is always prepped with portable chargers, stabilizers, boosters, etc., and we arm our on-desk team with multiple content sources for the biggest moments so the well never runs dry - even when Wi-Fi in the arena does not want to cooperate.
