The Goals
Fresh, relevant content
"We make a conscious effort to load our account with a lot on the front end to keep our content fresh and provide enough options so we don't look stale throughout a 162-game season."
Assets for every piece of content
"Even simple changes like a black versus white logo make such a big difference in a frame. So while we have a lot of assets, we have a lot of variations of assets which gives us incredible flexibility."
More efficient content workflow
"Slate has made our team's life easier with the simplicity, execution, and capabilities that it provides in terms of workflow during a chaotic time."
The Story
When looking at tools for on-the-go content creation, the Kansas City Royals saw the immediate impact Slate would make. The platform gave access to all the variations of their brand assets that they couldn't previously use without bringing in the help of their design team.
Before game days even begin, they set their focus on having their designers create evergreen elements to upload to Slate. Any and all color ways of their logos, graphics, filters, and backgrounds can be found in their account. This ensures that, as a social team, they always have everything they need to create on-brand, fresh content. Jesse Clark, Royals' Social Media Manager, suggests that brands start with uploading core brand elements.
Whether it's their logo in all of their signature colors or a background with dark blue, gold, or light blue crowns, the Royals have created building blocks for their social team to bounce off of daily. The Royals' social team have truly found the perfect equation to use Slate as a tool that strengthens their brand identity, regardless of where the content is published or who is in control.
