Burton’s Shortcut to Faster, Smoother Social Content
Burton
CASE STUDY
Burton used Slate to speed up video production, reduce approval delays, and create more content in less time, turning week-long edits into 3–5 videos a week, all without needing design support.
The Backstory
Founded in 1977, Burton Snowboards is one of the most iconic brands in snowboarding, credited with helping transform the sport from a backyard hobby into a global phenomenon. As a leader in snow culture, Burton doesn’t just sell gear, it tells stories. But with growing demand for real-time content, even a legendary brand can hit workflow walls.
“We would constantly not be able to react fast enough to make content for social without multiple layers of red tape and approval processes.”

The Shift
Burton’s team started using Slate to streamline social video production, especially for their Zoom interview series with Team Riders. The platform gave their social team the ability to handle editing, graphics, thumbnails, and captions on their own — no designer required.
“Normally, a video project would take us a week to complete. Thanks to Slate, we've been able to crank out three to five videos a week.”
Faster output meant faster feedback, giving Burton the agility to test, adjust, and optimize their content in real time.
The Feature That Surprised Them
One tool stood out: closed captions.
“Surprisingly, the closed captions feature has saved us countless hours and allowed us to rapidly create content that easily speaks to our audience, even if their sound is off.”
By speeding up both production and post-production, Slate gave Burton the tools to create engaging, on-brand video content that matched their pace and voice — without the usual bottlenecks.
