How to Use Slate Backgrounds to Reposts on Instagram Stories

Below you will find two workflows to brand reposted content on your Instagram stories. We have found that Instagram consistently tests different workflows to achieve this, so if one does not work try the other method.
IMPORTANT NOTE:When adding a background to your Slate app you’ll want to design the background with an empty space. Feel free to download this Photoshop template to easily create a background in seconds, or email support@slateteams.com if you need help!
The Tap Through Method:
- On Instagram, select the content you’d like to share and hit ‘Add to your story’
- Once you have it in your IG Stories editor, before posting, open your Slate app
- In the background drawer, copy or long press (tap and hold the background in the drawer for 2 seconds) the background you’d like to use to frame the content you are reposting, in order to copy the background to your phone’s clipboard
- Switch back to IG and select the ‘Add Sticker’ option pop up with the background you just copied
- Tap ‘Add Sticker’ and your Slate background will drop into Instagram as a sticker
- Resize the background so that it fills the entirety of the frame
- Tap the reposted content through the empty cutout in your background to pull it through
- Add any #hashtags or @handles you want to include & share to your story
