How to upload and use Filters

Filters

What is a filter?

A filter is a graphic overlay that can be uploaded to your Slate account to put on top of any image or video. They can be either static or animated. For more information on animated filters specifically, check out this article.

Sizes & File Types

Static filters should be .png files.
Animated filters should be .mov files.

We recommend the following sizes for each of the filter dimensions:

9:16 – 1080 x 1920

4:5 – 1080 x 1350

1:1 – 1080 x 1080

16:9 – 1920 x 1080

Uploading filters

  1. Login to your Slate web dashboard
  2.  In the Filters drawer, select the “+” button
  3. Select the filter file you would like to upload
  4. Add any search terms to your filter and save
  5. Publish any changes to your dashboard

Note: You can also drag and drop files into the filters drawer to upload.

Connecting similar filters across dimensions

If you have multiple dimensions (9:16, 4:5, 1:1, 16:9) of a filter, upload all them as a batch. This will connect the filters when switching dimensions on the mobile app.

  1. Login to your Slate web dashboard
  2. In the Filters drawer, select the “+” button
  3. Browse your files and select the similar filter files
  4. Add any search terms to your filter and save
  5. Publish changes to your dashboard

Using filters within the mobile app

  1. Open your Slate mobile app
  2. Select the filters drawer or swipe through filter options
  3. Add in media and any other assets before exporting your content
